About and Resume

I’m currently the Health and Safety Coordinator in the International Office at UT-Austin. Before that, I was a graduate student at UT, studying the online presence of Hindutva and how it forces us to rethink notions of the nation-state and nationalism. I’ve been named a Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellow for the 2015-2016 and the 2016-2017 academic years, as well as the 2016 summer term. Prior to starting graduate school, I worked as the Web Content Manager for a community college in western New York. I also interned at The Onion and MPA – The Association for Magazine Media. My work has been published in The Onion, The Cauldron, The Post-Journal, The Carthaginian, and The Olean Times-Herald, with write-ups on other projects I’ve been involved in appearing in Slate, The Austin Chronicle, and The Daily Dot. I’ve also given presentations on public and digital history at the Austin Archives Bazaar and UT-Austin’s Institute for Historical Studies.

  • Review safety plans and risk assessments for faculty-led study abroad programs
  • Present to approximately 2,000 students a year on travel health and safety, with content tailored to students’ destinations
  • Plan and organize semesterly health and safety workshops attended by over 100 UT faculty and staff members
  • Perform outreach to various groups and offices across campus to increase compliance with University travel policies
  • Coordinate with UT’s Dean of Students office, Student Emergency Services, Counseling and Mental Health Center, and other units to perform student clearance checks prior to departure
